Lawrence E. Susskind is Ford Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning at MIT and President of the Consensus Building Institute.

Contact

Professor Susskind's primary contributions to the fields of urban and environmental planning, negotiation and dispute resolution, and multilateral treaty negotiation involve many key areas of thought that have shaped theory and practice in the United States and elsewhere around the world. These include: public dispute resolution, environmental mediation, public entrepreneurship networks, mutual gains and consensus-building negotiation techniques, interactive representation in governance, mediation of land use disputes, management of sustainable development, and parallel informal negotiation as part of the treaty-making process.
