Michael Wheeler, Co-Director of the Dispute Resolution Program, Editor of Negotiation Journal, and a member of the PON Steering Committee, is the MBA Class of 1952 Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School. Professor Wheeler will discuss his on-going collaborative work with other faculty to study the identification and management of critical moments, times when significant changes occur in negotiation. Critical moments can include opening moves, turning points, and tipping points, and their influence can be positive or otherwise. Wheeler will discuss how negotiators and mediators can anticipate such moments and respond constructively.

Following the DRF meeting, Doug Reynolds of The New Law Center will present a Peervision case involving the use of Collaborative Law to resolve an employment law dispute. After much litigation and cost, the intervention of a team of collaborative lawyers reached a settlement. The presentation will include: (a) challenges faced; (b) elements of Collaborative Law that contributed to a successful outcome; and (c) issues in Collaborative Law that the team experienced.
