Join the Program on Negotiation (PON) at the Brattle Theater for a special advanced screening of Joyeux Noël. This film is based on the true story of three groups of soldiers fighting in the trenches of France during World War I. On Christmas Eve, 1914, the French, German and Scottish soldiers lay down their rifles to celebrate Christmas together in the barren stretch of No Man’s Land that separates them. Through an exchange of songs, sharing of food and stories and an impromptu soccer game, the soldiers find a way to overcome—if only briefly—the conflict that divides them.

Joyeux Noël accolades include an Academy Award® nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, Cannes Film Festival Official Selection, and six French Cesar Ceremony nominations.

116 minutes, French with English subtitles.

Free admission, limited seating.
