Ariyaratne, founder of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement. Sarvodaya is a holistic community development movement in Sri Lanka, working in 15,000 villages, and developed around a set of philosophical tenets drawn from Buddhism and Gandhian thought. A response will be offered by Christopher S. Queen, Lecturer on the Study of Religion, Harvard University.
