PON Film Series

At the Program on Negotiation (PON), we use film to engage students, faculty and the public in rich discussions about a broad range of negotiation and conflict issues. Documentary and feature films provide an immediate and shared context for showing how people deal with conflict. Following the film, a faculty member leads a discussion, drawing out lessons and connecting them to negotiation pedagogy.

The PON Film Series provides opportunities to consider a wide range of negotiation problems. Past films included discussions on how to integrate a high school football team, how to promote dialogue in a town where fears and hatred are fanned by talk radio, and how to handle land disputes between aboriginal people and the government.

In addition, the PON Film Series acknowledges filmmakers whose works increase understanding of negotiation and conflict transformation. Filmmakers who have participated in PON Film Series events include Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land), Don Mullan (Bloody Sunday), and Charles Belmont (Mediators of the Pacific).
