Mission StatementThe Interuniversity Transboundary Water Management and Negotiation Group's mission is to collect, organize, discuss and disseminate ideas and information in the field of transboundary water resources. We aim to encourage and increase opportunities for research and practice of transboundary water resource management and negotiation. We also strive to foster interaction among the Boston area university communities interested in transboundary water issues, as well as within the greater water resources community. Upcoming EventsThe group meets every two weeks during the academic year to discuss ongoing research, academic articles and contemporary issues. Summary of Spring 2004 activitiesDuring it's first semester, the transboundary water policy group met to discuss readings every two weeks during March and April. Each meeting the discussions were led by a pair of participants. The selected discussion themes included:
Past SpeakersMs. Lisa Jorgenson presented to the group on Financing Water. The talk took a historical look at the water projects major donors have invested in over the past 10 years and provided an introduction to the information systems used in this process by major banks and bi-lateral country assistance programs. Ms. Jorgenson also shared with students her experiences working as a consultant on water policy with the World Bank and the GEF. Affiliations
