SCENARIO:

Micronium-based products are an indispensable input into half a dozen important industries, ranging from food production processing, to medical storage, to public transportation and cars, and even to housing insulation. However, it is only now becoming clear that careless disposal of Micronium-based products has contaminated soil, freshwater and ocean resources around the world. Scientists did not think through the harm that careless disposal of Micronium products and the waste generated during their production might cause. This exercise simulates a UN Secretary-General appointed an Emergency Task Force, who must generate possible recommendations for the next full session of the General Assembly.

Students will explore how to incorporate scientific findings into arguments and global policy decisions.
